Our Founding Inspiration

Land Acknowledgement

The Center for Patient Protection and Patient Protection.Healthcare acknowledge that we are standing on the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples that is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The City of Toronto, where Ci is located, is covered by Treaty 13, signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands. We humbly acknowledge our stewardship responsibilities for the gift we have been given to work and live on these lands.

Kathleen Finlay regularly helps the news media and medical journalists spotlight the voice of patients and families and the role of compassion in our healthcare systems. She has contributed more stories and commentaries on medical errors in the hospital setting than anyone else in Canada.

Preparing for the CTV National News segment with producer Elizabeth St. Philip and videographer Lucien Millette. It was this segment, reported by CTV's chief medical correspondent Avis Favaro, that introduced Canada to Kathleen's campaign for 9-8-8 technology for suicide prevention.
